French Press is the classic craft brewing method.
Rich, luscious, strong, balanced and incredibly easy to make. Anyone can make a delicious French Press but if you follow a few simple rules your French Press can be elevated into a culinary work of art.
- 12 oz. French Press
- Electronic gram scale
- Coffee grinder
- Bamboo stirring paddle
- Fresh ground Bluestone Lane coffee
- Nicaragua Jinotega
30g of ground coffee – grind target is the texture of sea salt.
Boil 350g of water then let cool for 2 minutes to sit at 195 F.
Add the coffee to the French Press.
Add 60g of water to cover the grounds and stir well to ensure all grinds are wet.
Fill the French Press with remaining water and wait for 4 minutes.
Slowly press the French Press and then pour the coffee into a decanter to separate the brewed coffee and the grounds. Letting the coffee and the grounds sit together in the French Press can create an extremely bitter over-extracted coffee.
