Giving back with Bluestone

A Bluestone Lane coffee cup, with More than coffee written on the lid

It’s time to drink good, do good! For the month of November, we’re giving back to the local charities that do so much for us – and you can join us. All month long we’re giving our locals the chance to give back alongside Bluestone in a variety of ways. This includes donations in-app to local charities, pay it forward opportunities through our e-commerce site, opportunities to nominate your local charity for a coffee reward through our social media, and a big event on Giving Tuesday at the end of the month. There will be lots of other opportunities throughout November to support local charities alongside us and we cannot wait to share all that we are able to give back. We will also be donating coffee brew boxes to our local communities and charities that welcome us across the nation.

The Bowery Mission

The Bowery Mission has been a New York staple for 150 years. With doors open 365 days a year, the Bowery Mission stands with New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, hunger and other crises. The Mission has locations across New York and supports adults and children alike through vocational training, counseling, legal and medical help, athletics, mentoring, summer camp, and much more. The Bowery Mission has provided over 255,000 meals, 54,000 nights of shelter, and 20,000 articles of clothing to New Yorkers in need.

Houston Food Bank

The Houston Food Bank, which is celebrating its 40th year of serving the community, is a Houston powerhouse. With resources like community assistance programs to apply for state-funded social and health services, school meals for at-risk kids, nutrition education, a senior box program, and even teacher aids for school supplies for teachers in low income schools, the Houston Food Bank really does it all. In 2022 the HFB celebrated providing 150 million meals over just one year.

California Association of Food Banks

The CA  Association of Food Banks is a collective of 41 food banks across all of California that address hunger county by county. The CAFB is California’s largest anti-hunger association that works to dismantle systems of oppression and injustice that lead to food insecurity. CAFB has a Farm to Family program that has delivered over 160 million pounds of fruits and vegetables and pantry foods to food banks across the state. CAFB also works closely with the SNAP program to help people apply and enjoy debit cards used specifically for groceries.

Feeding America

Feeding America is the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States. Their mission is to advance change in America by ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all in partnership with food banks, policymakers, supporters, and local communities. They offer mobile and drive-thru pantries, senior food programs, summer and school meal programs, active disaster response and recovery programs, and so much more. Feeding America also works hard against food waste – last year the Feeding America network rescued 4.7 billion pounds of groceries.
